a short and pretentious, albeit, honest note on the hiatus

To say it has been a while, would be an understatement. Around 1 year and 7 months have passed since I have last published work on this page. Though not for a lack of trying, I just have not managed to create work that I was happy with (or perhaps more candidly, been too lazy to type the words and ideas in my head until eventually I forgot them). I think it's fair to say that 2020 and 2021 was and is a weird period for everyone.

I believe that my 'writer's block', in the loosest sense of the term was partly due to not being sure if any of the work I was doing was relevant given how the lives of most people around me were in revolutionary upheavals, generally for the worst. Blame could also be attributed to just other priorities but in fairness to my time management skills, I wasn't doing any work with regard to these other priorities either. Essentially, my slump was more existential than it was practical but to my utter shock, the world did not stop to accommodate my needs.

However, I was recently reminded by someone wise that it's better to whole-ass one thing than half-ass many things (thank you, Ron Swanson for that gem). I soon realised that the one thing in my story was not my budding career in wasting my time doing literally nothing, but rather getting to work on things that mattered to me. This is one of those things. And so now, despite popular vote and my severe impulse to sleep every second of every day till I eventually die, this blog will live.

PS: I have long espoused the virtues of Marvel Netflix's take on Daredevil who has, I daresay (see what I did there?), become one of my favourite comic characters, thanks to Frank Miller and Mark Waid's runs on him. Like most things I value, Daredevil was handed to me by someone smarter than me who got there first so to speak, but whose devotion to the show and the characters I soon surpassed. I believe everyone should watch the show as they will come to love and appreciate it, and especially Charlie Cox's oft-overlooked portrayal as the titular character, Matt Murdock. While I won't reiterate my review and the merits of the show (which you should read), an important point of contention then was the cancellation of the show. I have long been part of the #SaveDaredevil campaign and so after 3 whole years since the cancelling, it gives me immense joy to know that these characters shall live and return in the MCU. Thus, just as at the end of the show, a critically acclaimed comic-arc, and metaphorically now, Daredevil was 'born again', this blog too is hopefully 'born again'. (See, I warned you about the pretension)

This is Neel reacting to the blog coming back (not really)

And for reading this entire thing, please accept this here offering of my immensely charming friend Neel not reacting to the news of this blog coming back, who also will not realise this is up here till he reads this, so jokes on you, bro (or is it?).
